Yvonne's 1st Birthday...Surprise!

Have you ever been thrown a surprise birthday party? Maybe or maybe not...I'm a "maybe not"...I'm too suspicious for anyone to succeed in throwing me a surprise birthday party. Yvonne had never been thrown a surprise birthday party before...everyone worked hard to make it a big surprise. They wanted to make it so special because it was her "1st Birthday...Surprise". When she finally walked through the door it was indeed a huge surprise that brought tears to her eyes...and I was so lucky to be there to capture it. Hopefully I can be surprised like that some day=)

Where's my ball...

Pushing your radioflyer around in the park must be one of the most awesome things when you're a kid...too bad we don't remember doing it. That's what Aiden had fun doing...taking photos of someone in their "element" is the best thing an aspiring professional photographer could ask for. One may think that being "photogenic" is the most important thing when taking portraits, but it's not at all. Making your subject feel completely comfortable and allowing them to do what "they want" is the most important aspect of "capturing emotion". I absolutely love capturing the emotions in kids.

Pulled over here...pulled over there...Shug Ree

Had the chance to take photos of an up and coming female rapper. We went into downtown LA and just let the grounds guide us. Pulled over here...pulled over there until we found a desolate and grimy staircase. We thought this would be a great spot to get some grungy shots...only to be met by a man and a woman with no teeth...yes folks...no teeth!!! They said..."you gotta axe da boss..." what did we have to ask the boss??? "you gotta axe da boss". So we took some quick shots and got the heck outta there. Continued on and were met by some other interesting characters...one was a store shop owner that kept asking us..."what are you doing? You can't do that here". Needless to say, the day progressed with more shots and interesting characters. Shug Ree handled it amazingly and with so much poise...taking it as an opportunity to promote herself. Can't wait till she blows up..."diego to the bridge"...

Click your heels...Ballet Folklorico

Just a few shots from the park with Sol de Mexico. They're an amazing ballet folkorico group that perform dances from Mexico. It was a fun experience taking photos and being exposed to this form of dance and culture. Had a great time even though I was melting. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to be a part of it again. Thanks to all the dancers it was truly a great day!!!

YO HO YO HO A Pirate's Life for Me

Happy 3rd Birthday Connor. I joined Connor to share in the 3rd birthday pirate festivities. This party had pirate everything...it was great. The cake made by Connor's mom was amazing...there was treasure seeping out of the crevices of the treasure chest cake. Arrrrggggg!

Roaring dinosaur

Beautiful day at the park...again. Getting a babino to smile is fun especially when he's only 9 months old. This little guy is a thinker and he's just as cute when he's not smiling. His mom and dad have devised a special way to get him to smile...it's the "roar of a dinosaur" folks! Or that's what I like to call it. Every time they made this sound, little Henry would just start laughing. It was so darn cute I couldn't stand it. It was a joy photographing this beautiful family.

Boys will be boys

Raising 4 boys must be an awesome experience making everyday new and exciting. However, seeing them grow into amazing men must be so rewarding. I can tell this is how their mom and dad felt about their 4 boys that are now grown up. All grown up and raising children of their own. I had a great time with these guys and their parents getting them to carry each other and do fun shots.

Thanks for the opportunity!

Welcome Emmia

Here she is...Emmia Camille Powell. Born to proud parents Melissa and Vince. This little one was calm and collected during her first photo session. She actually slept through the entire thing. It's rough being a new born=) We were able to put her in a tutu, boa, and sometimes nothing at all. She was comfortable through the entire thing. Thanks Emmia!

Beach or Park?...you choose

This was the question of the day when scheduling an engagement shoot. Because the decision was too difficult to make...we did both! How fun. At Laguna Beach it seems everyone else had the same idea. There were about 5 other photographers using the same space...as if there isn't enough beach in Southern California to go around. As we tiptoed around and tried not to be in anyone's shots...we got some good ones ourselves. Then a couple days later it was off to the park to get some of those warm shots I love so much. The sessions were fun and I hope they loved the photos...see you soon!

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens

I have to say that every photography experience I've had thus far has been exceptional. Not only, do I get the opportunity to put a smile on people's faces but I also get exposed to different personalities and experiencing how they all work together. I'm pretty good with kids because I've been around them all my life. I've been babysitting little ones since I can remember. Photographing a family with kids is no different...I'm ready to go. Getting that perfect shot if it takes hundreds is completely worth it. I had a blast with these little girls...I love how much they love their parents and each other. I was able to capture that in the photos...take a look.

So long, farewell...

Family Ties

It was a rainy rainy day in Orange County on June 7th 2009. This makes for a bad day for photography. We tried taking some photos indoors but it's just not the same as natural light. The kids were absolutely amazing and so so cute and did I mention welcoming? But guess what??? The sun came out...I was so excited that the sun decided to grace us with its presence. We had to take advantage quickly, so we headed over to the arboretum and took a few shots. The family was great and the kids had an awesome time playing with the bubbles but I think it may have been a little distracting. It's all a learning experience right?

Thanks for the opportunity!
